As part of the Speaker Rt Hon Trevor Mallard and Parliamentary Service’s efforts to make Parliament more accessible and family friendly, Novare was engaged in the structural design of the centrepiece slide in a new play space located within Parliament grounds.

The stainless-steel slide, as well as the supporting steel structure and native timber cladding needed to comply with the requirements of the NZ Playground Equipment Standard. Through close collaboration with the steel fabricator Total Sheetmetal’s, Novare was able to develop a robust and elegant solution for the slide.

The Parliamentary Play Space can be found on Parliament’s front lawn and was appropriately opened by Prime Minister Rt Hon Jacinda Ardern on International Children’s Day in November 2019.
